A Study on the Correlation between Health Behavior Patterns and Metabolic Syndrome of Female Workers

Abstract

|
|
Purpose : This study examines the relationship between health behaviors and metabolic syndrome of female workers by using the data of Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey.
Methods : The subjects were 949 female wage earners measured to have the risk factors of metabolic syndrome among the respondents to Korean National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey in 2010.
Results : Female workers' prevalence rate of metabolic syndrome was 12.1%, and, among their health behaviors, the variables having significant effects on metabolic syndrome were drinking and smoking.
Conclusion : Therefore, to prevent female workers' metabolic syndrome, multiple intervention programs related to obesity, drinking and smoking should be introduced and applied, and the intervention programs for vulnerable workers with low household income and low education levels should be actively developed and carried out.
