The Effect of Job Stress of Small Business Workers on Practices of Health Behavior

Abstract
Purpose : This study was done to investigate the effect of job stress on the level of health behaviors of small business workers.

Methods : Participants are 256 small business workers with less than 50 employees. Job stress used a tool including physical environment in the short form of Korean job stress measurement tool. Health behavior practice included smoking, drinking, exercise, body mass index, sleep and diet regularity based on Alameda7's health behavior. Data were analyzed using frequency, mean, SD, chi-square test, and logistic regression using SPSS version 21.0.

Results : The level of health behavior practice of workers at small workplaces differed by gender, education, position and insufficient job control in sub-sector of job stress.

Conclusion : This study results show that insufficient job control of small workplace workers affects the practice of health behavior. Therefore, it is suggested that stress management at the individual or organizational level is needed to sufficient job control.
