Study on the Influence of Extraction Methods of Dae Seung Gi Tang on the Mucous Cell of Intestinal Epithelium in Rabbit

Abstract
|

|
Dried preparation of water extract of Dae Sung Gi Tang per se, S.1 which yielded 9.7g from the quantity for one potion, dried aquous extract of individual ingredients of this medicament, S.2 or 11. 2g in combination from the same amount of starting material and dried ethanol extract of the individual ingredient, S.3 or 13.94g in combination were orally administered to rabbit with live weight of 2.0 ´ 2.5kg on the average and the numerical changes of mucous cell located at,ether proximal portion or distal portion of small intestine were kinetically observed at time intervals of 1, 3, 6,12 and 24 hours following the administration.
Following results were obtained.
1. In the case of S.1 administration and increase in C type of mucous cell was observed at both portion in function of the time lapse when compared to that of control group.
2. A significant decrease in the total number of mucous cell was observed as time passed by when S.2 preparation was administered;
A type was decreased at the proximal portion while the B type was decreased at both portion in contrast of the. C type which increased significantly at the distal portion
3. Administration of S.3 preparation resulted in a numerical increase of total mucous cell. At the proximal portion A type of the cell was decreased while B and C type increased as time passed by. Both a decrease in B type and an increase in A and C type were observed at the distal portion of small intestine.
4. S.1 preparation is considered most effective as the C type was increased at both distal and proximal portion of the small intestine.
