Influence of Sakunza-Tang and Samul-Tang Extract Administration on Growth in Rats

Abstract
|
|
|
A study was planned to see if the administration of Sakunza-Tand and Samul-Tang extract has any influence upon the growth of male rats.
Twenty-four male rats .(55--60gm) were used and they were divided into the control and experimental A, B groups of 8 rats each. The Sakunza-Tang group injected every 2 days 2ml/100gm body weight of Sakunza-Tang extract Solution (42. 47mg of Sakunza-Tang dry extract in 2ml of water) subcutaneously, and the Samul-Tang group also injected extract solution "(81.76mg of Samul-Tang ´dry extract in 2ml of water) as the same method.´ The saline group received the same amount of physiological saline. After beginning of the drug administration the body weight measured every 3th day.
1. From about the 28th_experimental day, the Sakunza-Tang group gained in body weight significantly more than the saline group. (P<0.025)
2. From about the 12th day, the Samul-Tang group gained in body weight significantly more than the saline group. (P<0. 025)
3. The Samul-Tang group stimulated the growth more than the Sakunza-Tang group in rats.
