Influence of Rukmizihuang-Tang Extract Administration on Growth and Serum Total Cholesterol Level in Male Rats

Abstract
|
|
|
A study was planned to see if the adiministration of Rukmzihuang Tang extract has any influence upon the growth and the serum total ´cholesterol level in male rats.
The male rats were used, whose body weight at the experimental ranged 115 120gm and they were divided into the control .and experimental group.
The experimental groups received every two days 2.Oml/100gm body weight of Rukmizihuang-Tang entract solution (152mg of dry extract in 2ml of water for injection) subcutneously, and the saline groups received the same amount of physiological saline.
The body weight and serum total cholesterol level was checked for 7 weeks. Results obtained were as follows:
1. The body weight decreased rather than the saline group, for about 3 weeks from the beginning of drug administration but from 5 weeks it approached to the nomal level.
2. The serum total cholesterol level increased rather than the saline group for 2 weeks but it came down from 4 weeks.
3. As the Rukmizihuang-Tang extract administrated to the male rats, temporarily showed the decreased growth and the increased serum total cholesterol level.
