A Bibliographical Study on the Edema

Abstract
1. A series of edema syndromes is one of the most frequently encountered clinical syndromes.
According to what has been observed in the present study the symptoms of edema as acknowledged objectively should naturally be classified into primary symptom and secondary symptom.
2. The primary symptom is to denote edema as caused by physiological malfunction of kidney together with spleen and lung as the Internal medicine describes i.e., the Water Stasis of 3 Eums.
3. The secondary symptom is to denote edema accompanied by various diseases whose cause is improper functional coordination of 5 viscera due not to the functional fraility of kidney but to other various diseases according to the principle in Oriental medicine.
4. Therefore, the present study was directed to identify the principles of primary symptoms of edema in order to contribute to the clinical practice.
As the result a detailed explanation was found in the Internal medicine that the equilibrium of body fluid depends upon the normal function of kidney.
5. Diagnostic identification of the primary syndroms caused by the loss of physiological coordination in hu.uoral equilibrium categorized edema into 5 syndroms namely Pungsu(,N,c), Pisu(4c), Jeongsu(1IzK), Seogsu(TJc), and Hwanghan (F) as illustrated by the classification of edema by Geum-Gwoe-Yo-Rag(lf -FM) which offers a creative methodology for the treatment of edema.
6. In the later day literatures a diversification of the opinion for the diagnosis but it can be concluded that the ideal method for the treatment of this disease is to follow the method of classification of Geum-Gwoe-Yp-Rag which is most rational and practical.
