The survey of 62 volumes of literature on the treatment of low back pain comes to the following conclusions.
1. Among the 14 meridians, 4 meridians such as the Leg Greater Yang Bladder Meridian(16%), the Leg Lesser Yang Gall Bladder Meridian(14. 1%), the Governing Vessel Meridian(9. 7%) and the Leg Greater Eum Spleen Meridian (8. 6%) have the priority for treatment of low back pain, and asa result, Yang Meridians have been much used. .
2. Among the acupuncture points for low back pain, the points with high frequency are Wi-Jung(B54, 37 times), Gon-Ryun(BS9, 34times), Sin-Su(B23, 28 times), Jog-Sam-Ri(S35, 27 times), Eun-Mun(B51, 23 times), Cha-Ryo(B32, 23 times), Hwan-Jo(G33, 22 times), Yang-Neung-Cheon(G34, 19 times), Seung-San (B57, 18 times), Sang-Ryo(B31, 18 times), Ha-Ryo(B34, 16 times), Seung-Bu (B50, 15 times), Ji-Sil(B47, 14 times), Tae-Chung(Liv 3,14 times), Eum-Si(S33, 14 times), Dae-Jang-Su(B25, 13 times), Bu-P.yu(K7, 13 times), Pang-Si(G31, 13 times), Yo-Su(GV2, 13 times) and In-Jung(GV26, 13 times), and as a result, the acupuncture points of lower extremities and lumbar region have been much used.
3. The treatment of moxibustion was pre3ented to 24 volumes of literatures (54.6%) and the acupuncture points are Sin-Su(B23, 14 times), Sin Seon Ku Beob(8 times), Ein-Mun(B 51, 6 times), Seung-San (357, 6 times), Wi-Yang (B53, 5 times) and Myeong-Mun (GV4, 5 times).
4. The low back pains were classified by symptoms in 37 volu-nes(68. 5%) of the text-books of acupuncture and moxibustion.
