Abstract
The Cervi Cornu has known to the drug for supplement of Yang in Oriental Medicine ; it means that this drug have the expeditive activity to the metabolisms. This study was attempted to see not only the effect of drug but also the difference of effect with the each Cervi Cornu First the trial rats were administered the drug, and then treated CC14. The control rats were given the saline. The trial rats were subdivided the four groups : elk, red deer, rein deer and formosa deer. The trial groups were compared with the control group on the serum alkaline phosphatase, SGOT,S-GPT activity and the serum total cholesterol contents. It was shown that the drug have the protected or curative factor in CC14-induced liver damage rats.
The results were as follow :
1. It was found that the Cervi Cornu extract have antagonized the CC14-treated rats by means of the decrease of serum alkaine phosphatase. Trial groups revealed a significant for the control group.
2 . In case of the S-GOT activity, the trial groups were less than the control group but the difference in average values were not significiant.
3. The S-GPT activity of trial groups were significant except the formosa deer. Especially the red deer was highly significant (P<0.001) .
4 . The serum total cholesterol contents of the trial groups were shown to decrease as compare with the control group. The values statistically significant for each trial group.
5. The effect on the each Cervi Cornu was better elk and red deer than others.
