Histochemical Studies for the Effect of Bosimchungkan-Tang on Hepatic Enzyme Activities in Starved-Rat
Yoo Jin-Hwa

Abstract
In order to determine the effect of Bosimchungkan-Tang on the hepatic enzymatic activity in rat, the experimental animals were devided into four groups; the starvation group I was given with water alone whereas starvation group II was given with water plus Bosimchungkan-Tang and, upon the starvation for 7 days, the recovery group I was given with feed alone whilest recovery group II was given with feed plus Bosimchungkan-Tang and the histochemical observation on these animals resulted in the following.
The following results were obtained:
1. Activities of alkaline phosphatase and acid phosphatase in the starvation group I and the starvation group II did not demonstrate a visible changes.
2. Activities of adenosine triphosphatase and lactate dehydrogenase in the starvation group I were decreased from 7th day in comparison to that normal group but the starvation group II did not demonstrate visible changes;
3. Activities of succinate dehydrogenase and cytochrome oxidase in the starvation group I were decreased from 6th day in comparison to that normal group but the starvation group II did not demonstrate visible changes.
4. Adenosine triphosphastase activity in the recovery group I was increased to normal level from 5th day but such a tendency was observed from 3rd day of the recovery group II.
5. Lactate dehydrogenase activity in the recovery group I was increased to normal level from 3rd day but such a tendency was observed from 2nd day of the recovery group II.
6. Activities of ¢¥succinate dehydrogenase and cytochrome oxidase in the recovery group I were increased to normal level 4th day but a tendency was observed from 2nd day of the recovery group II.
7. According to the above findings, it is presumed that Bosimchungkan-Tang accelerate activity of hepatic enzymes and the recovery of hepatic function.
