Abstract
In order to study the analgesic effectiveness of hydro-acupuncture and regular acupuncture upon the painful area induced by 0.9% Acetic acid in mice, stainless steel needles were inserted at the depth of 3mm to 5mm bilaterally on the skin of mice weighing 16 to 20mg at the selected points, Yang-Bo (G38) and Woe-Gwan(T5).
Samples used far hydro-acupuncture were 100% Zanthoxyli Fructus, 100% Carthami Flos and 0.85% Saline Solution respectively, and regular acupuncture was applied by the Jak Tak Sul method. (Sparrow pecking method).
And the analgesic effectiveness of the hydro-acupuncture and regular acupuncture were comparatively studied.
Results obtained by the present experiment were as follows.
1. The hydro-acupuncture by 100% Zanthoxyli Fructus and 100% Carthami Plos showed better effectiveness for pain control than regular acupuncture applied at the same points.
2. On the Yang-Bo Point (G38), 100% Zanthoxyli Fructus, 100% Carthami Flos and regular acupuncture showed better results than the control group and saline solution group which did not show any analgesic effectiveness.
3. On the Woe-Gwan point (T5), 100% Zanthoxyli Fructus and 100% Carthami Flos showed a degree of pain control, although the regular acupuncture group and the saline solution group did not show any significant change compared with the control group.
4. Therefore the Yang-Bo Point (G38) is more effective in pain control by this method than the Woe-Gwan point (T5), and Zanthoxyli Fructus showed more therapeutic effectiveness than the Carthami Flos applied to the above points.
5. According to the above results, it is concluded that the effectiveness of pain control in case of hydro-acupuncture by 100% Zanthoxyli Fructus and 100% Carthami Flos has great effectiveness of pain control in pain control.
Hydro acupuncture is a method whereby liquid herbal decoctions are injected into meridian acupuncture points.
