A Study on the Effect of Si-Ho-Cheong-Gan-Tang Against CCI₄-induced Liver Damage in Rats

Abstract

|
A study was planned to see if the 3 kinds of the medicines (Sihocheonggan-Tang, the case of adding Artemisiae Capillaris Herba 18.75g and 37.5g) and Sihocheonggan-Tang+Artemisiae Capillaris Herba 18.75% extract have the any effects against damage of the rat liver induced by CCl4. Serum enzyme activities (GOT, GPT, LAP) and Serum Fe were measured to clarify the therapeutic effect.
The result summarized as follows:
1. In the effect of Sihocheonggan-Tang against damage of the rat liver induced by CC14, S--GOT activity in all of the experimental groups was markedly decreased than the control group and they showed highly statistical value.
2. All of the trial groups showed the tendency of a remarkable decrease than the control group and revealed a high significance in S-GPT activity.
3. In case of LAP activity all of the experimental groups, compared with the control group, showed the tendency of a considerable decrease and revealed statistical value.
4. In serum-Fe amounts all of the trial groups had the highly decreased level and revealed the statistical value.
5. As compare with both Sihocheonggan-Tang and the case of adding-Artemisiae Capillaris Herba, the latter showed more effective action. But there was no difference of effect between adding Herb 18.75g and 37.5g.
6. According to the above mentioned results, We consider that Sihocheonggan-Tang have the curative effects for the liver diseases.
