Clinical Study on Joong Poong(Cerebrovascular Accidents)


Abstract
The clinical observations were carried out the 893 inpatients with cerebrovascular accidents who had been treated in Joong-Poong (¢¥1 , C.V.A) Center, Oriental Medical Hospital in Kyung Hee University.
The results were summarized as follows
1. Male to female ratio of Joong Poong (cerebrovascular accidents) patients were 1.5:1
In age distribution, .fifties was the top as 33.37% and sixties, seventies, and thirties were in order of frequency.
2. In the distribution of Joong poong (cerebrovascular accidents) by the method of Oriental Medicine, Joong-kyungrak (fig$) was 31.92%, Joong-boo(7E) was 35.72% and Joong fang (gyp) was 32.36%.
3. The distribution of four constitution-type in this study disclosed that Tai-eum Type (tpf+) was 50.84%, So-eum Type (1: MV) was 28.00%, So yang Type (J% f) was 21.16% and Tai-yang Type (.PZ!) was none.
4. Author made the fancy food as the one of this study; flesh and meat (56.33%), vegetables (36.06%) and fishes (27.61%). Patients liked salty taste or hot-taste best.
5. Prior to attack, patients chiefly complained in next regular sequences; Dizziness, sore feeling, neck stiffness, and discomfort on chest region. And 14.89% of patients had no previous sign.
6. The most important precipitating factors or conditions at the onset of Joong Poong (cerebrovascular accidents) were overwork, and the next was in order of emotional stress, sleeping, rest, mealing, drinking and so on.
7. Hemiplegia was revealed as the most frequent complaint when Joong Poong (cerebrovascular accidents) had occured or at admission, and the next was headache, verbal disturbance, hemiparesis, dizziness, nausea, vomiting and neck-stiffness in regular sequence.
8. The ratio of male to female of Joong Poong (cerebrovascular accident) patients who had hemiplegia or hemiparesis was nearly 1:1.
9. kuthor observed that hypertension was the top of the precedent disease as 11.42%.
10. Patients who had hypertension or Joong Poong (cerebrovascular accidents) in family-history were 30.57%, and the cases that had no such history was 69.43%.
11. Systolic and diastolic blood pressure level of Joong Poong (cerebrovascular accident) patients at admission were increased in accordance with the symptoms becoming severe.
12. Mortality in admission was Joong fang (rl~) 27.00%, Joong-boo (11=(-t) 2.82 %, Joong-kyung-rak ($l M) 0.70% seperately.
13. Electrocardiographic (E.K.G.) findings disclosed that 50.12% were normal, and X-ray finding of chest was more than 19.11% and hypertensive heart was 60.66%.
14. In accordance with the increasing of white _blood cell (W.B.C.) in Serum and albuminuria level, symptoms also became severe and prognoses were poor.
