Studies on the effects of anti-laxative action by Moxibustion and acupuncture stimulation

Abstract
In order to study the effectiveness by moxa-cauterization ana acupuncture stimulation on the anti-laxative action of mice admistered by Castor oil. Stainless steel needles were inserted on the skin of mice at the corresponding points of Jung-wan (CV 12), Cheon-chu (S 25) and combination of Jung-wan (CV 12) and Cheonchu (S 25). Following results were obtained.
1. Moxa cauterization did not show any valuable effects of anti-laxative action for acute diarrhea. But it was still recommended that further studies would be followed.
2. Weak stimulation with repetition by simple needle insertion therapy revealed more effectiveness of anti-laxation.
3. It showed most valuable and fast effectiveness of anti-laxation by giving constant and continuous stimulation with intra dermal needle therapy.
4. Constant and continuous stimulation with intradermal needle therapy showed better results than that of the strong and short time of electric acupuncture stimulation
5. It was recognized that combination of acupuncture points showed better results than that of single acupuncture point. It is recommendable that proper combination of acupuncture points would be necessary in clinics.
