The Life and the Medical Theory of Dong-Won-Lee
Choe Sam-Seop

Abstract
Dong-Won-Lee, as one of the four great doctor of Geum-Won era, invented Bi-Wi (spleen-stomach) theory on the theory of Nae-Kyung and with his clinical experience, and presented us another way of the treatment of the internal disease (which chiefly comes from digestive disorders).
And I got some results through his theory as following.
1. Lee¢¥s Bi-Wi theory was invented under the influence of the poverty and hunger which was caused by frequent wars in the era between Keum and Won Kingdom.
2. Lee said that Bi-Wi played a leading role in the physiological function and parthological change.
3. And that the internal disease were originated by the need of ki(=energy) in the body, and the need of Ki came from the disorder of digestive organs, and that the causes of internal disease were the irregular meal, the overwork, and the mental shock.
4. Lee made a deep study about the struggle of Sa-Jeung (good and bad) and, in the theory of the prescription, he asserted the method of Seung-Yang-San-Hwa, but he also used the method of Go-Han-Gang-Hwa.
5. Lee announeed seven differentiation method between the digestive disorder and the cold.
6. Zang-Kyung-Ac indicated the controdiction of Lee¢¥s hwa Yeu Won Ki Bul Ryang Lip theory, but he was much influenced by Lee¢¥s theory in his "Eum Sang Yu Yeo-Yang Sang Bu Jok theory, and in his thought of giving seriouse consideration to Won-Ki.
