Effect of Chungsangsawhatang on the Blood Pressure in Rats, and metabolism of lipid in Rabbits

Abstract
The effectiveness of Chungsangsawha tang on the lowering of blood pressure in normotensive and spontaneously hypertensive rats, the thiobarbituric acid value in liver homogenate of CCI 4-pretreated rats and the lipid metabblism in serum of cholesterol-pretreated rabbits was studied.
The results are summarized as follows;
1. The blood pressures of normotensive rats were lowered from one hour after the administration and sharply lowered after three hours. Especially, after the double dosages of extracted powder were administered, from one to four hours the meaningfulness was recognized.
1. Also in the case of DOC rats, the blood pressures were lowered from one to four hours, and apparantly lowered in the group administered the double dosages of extracted powder.
3. The blood pressures of SHR rats were lowered from one to four hours; in the case of decoction A group, the meaningfulnesses were recognized, from two to four hours after adminstration, and of decoction B group, from two to three hours, and in the case of extracted powder A group, from two to three hours, and of extracted powder B group, from one to five hours.
4. The levels of total cholesterol, non-esterified fatty acids, phospholipid, triglyceride and $3-lipoprotein were decreased in 20 days, they were almost recovered in 35 days and the decoction groups were slightly superior than the extracted powder groups.
5. In the case of thiobarbituric acid value the meaningfulnesses were recognized in the decoction groups and the extracted powder groups and there were no significant differences causes by the additional doses.
According to the above expreimental results, Chungsangsawhatang is assumed to have a curative effect against the hypertension and arteriosclerosis.
