Abstract
In order to study the effectiveness and better use of Shirhyung-Tang, the effects of Shirhyung-Tang(A), Shirhyung-Tang and Injin io-Tang(B) and Shirhyung-Tang removed Cassiae Cortex and Ginseng Radix(C), t..iese groups were made as solid extracts and the compound of each solid extracts, on the liver damage induced by thioacetamide (TAA) in rats were biochemically, histologically and histochemically examined. The results are summarized as follows: 1. A, B and C group in all meaningfully reduced GOT, GPT, AlP, LAP and a-HBD activities in changes on standing, also the meaningful effects in the contents of albumin and total protein and the T.T.T. (thymol turbidity test) were re-cognized. 2. A,B and C group in all showed the reducing effects on the TAA-induced rats hepatic cell necrosis, fatty degeneration and PAS positive substance deposit in histological and histochemical findings. 3. A,B and C group were compared; B group was more or less effective, while A and C group showed similar effectivenesses. 4. The effectivenesses of solid extracts and compound of each solid extracts were compared; though there was no evident differences, solid extract had a tendency to be more effective. According to the above results, Shirhyung-Tang was recognized to be helpful for the recovery of liver damage induced by TAA, therefore Shirhyung-Tang is assumed to have a curative effect against the hepatic disease.
