Abstract
In order to study and identify the effect of Daikangwhaltang on the diuresis, analgesia and anti-inflammatory action, combination of Daikangwhaltang and each drug combination of Daikangwhaltang were administered to the rabbits and rats.
Diuretic effect of Daikangwhaltang was studied by measuring the urine flow, sodium, potassium and chloride in urinary excretion, plasma clearance of sodium, chloride and creatinine, and the rate of fractional excreation of fractional sodium and chloride in rabbits. The Randall-Selitto test in rats was carried on the identify the analgesic effect and Carrageenin induced inflammation was measured to check anti-inflammatory effect. Carotid artery pressure and respiration rate were also observed in anesthetized rabbits.
The following results were obtained.
1) Both the combination of Daikangwhaltang and each drug combination of Daikangwhaltang were showed effectively continuating diuretic action.
2) The diuretic effect of Daikangwhaltang was understood by the increase of glomerular filtration rate and inhibition to the reabsorption of sodium and chloride ion in renal tubules.
3) Artrial blood pressure was reduced mildly and respiration rate was not changed by Daikangwhaltang.
4) Daikangwhaltang was showed an analgesic effect on the pain induced by carrageenin and prostaglandin E2.
5) Anti-inflammatory effect was revealed on the edema induced by Carragennin.
6) It was recognized that both the combination of Daikangwhaltang and each drug combination of Daikangwhaltang had diuretic, analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects without any differences between the two groups.
By the above results, it is concluded that Daikangwhaltang is a therapeutic medicine to the inflammatory diseases, and further it is recommended through the understanding the diuretic effect, that Daikangwhaltang seems to be applicable to the inflamatory diseases accompanied with edema.
