In order to study the effects of aqua-acupuncture with 25.0 g% Sileris radix extract solution on the hypertension and the lipid metabolism, the aqua-acupuncture was .inserted into the corresponding loci of the Sim-Su (B15), Jog-Sam-Ri (S36) and Jung-Wan (CV12). The reductional effect of blood pressure was studied by measuring the blood pressure of spontaneously hypertensive rats, and the level of total cholesterol, triglyceride, phospholipid and alkaline phosphatase activities in the serum of cholesterol-pretreated rats were also measured.
The following results have been obtained:
1) The most remarkable reduction of hourly blood pressure in spontaneously hypertensive rats was noticed between 1st and 2nd hour after aqua-acupuncture at the loci of Sim-Su (B 15 ), Jog-Sam-Ri (S36) and Jung-Wan (CV12).
2) On the blood pressure immediately before the every 2 days aqua-acupuncture for 11 days, Sim-Su (B1S) showed the continuous reduction of blood pressure in spontaneously hypertensive rats, while Jog-Sam-Ri (S36) and Jung-Wan (CV12) showed remarkable reduction of blood pressure on the 11th day.
3) On the blood pressure after 1 hour of the every 2 days aqua-acupuncture for 11 days, Sim-Su (B15), Jog-Sam-Ri (S36) and Jung-Wan (CV12) showed remarkable reduction of blood pressure in spontaneously hypertensive rats. It showed a tendency to reduction of blood pressure by the increasing numbers of aqua-
acupuncture.
4) At the loci of Sim-Su (B15) Jog-Sam-Ri (S36) and Jung Wan (CV12), the level of total cholesterol, triglyceride and alkaline phosphatase activity in the serum of cholesterol-pretreated rats were decreased remarkably after aqua-acupuncture. At the loci of Jog-Sam-Ri (S36), the level of phospholipid in the serum of cholesterol-pretreated rats was decreased effectively after aqua-acupuncture, but at the loci of Jung-Wan (CV12) and Blank Locus at the root of the tail of rats, they didn´t reveal any significance.
5) In the comparison with the loci, Sim-Su (B15) showed the most effective reduction of blood pressure in spontaneously hypertensive rats and decreases of total cholesterol level and alkaline phosphatase activity in the serum of cholesterol-pretreated rats, while Jog-Sam-Ri(S36) showed more effective than any other loci in the decrease of triglyceride level and phospholipid level in the serum of cholesterol-pretreated rats.
According to the above results, it is concluded that aqua-acupuncture with Sileris radix extract solution at the loci of Sim-Su (B15), Jog-Sam-Ri (S36) and Jung-Wan (CV12) showed a marked reduction of blood pressure and the fast recovery from the increased lipid metabolism.
