In order to study the effectiveness of Yangkyuksan on the blood pressure and serum, the amount of total cholesterol, phospholipid, triglyceride and non-esterified fatty acids in serum and the blood pressure of cholesterol-pretreated S.H.R. were measured.
The results were obtained as follows:
1) On the blood pressure of cholesterol-pretreated S.H.R., sample I, II group were significantly lowered than the control group; the effectiveness was increased in proportion to the disage of medicine but that was transient descent of the blood pressure.
2) On the effectiveness of lipid-metabolism, the amount of total cholesterol, phospholipid and triglyceride in serum of cholesterol-pretreated S.H.R. were significantly decreased in Sample I, II group and the effectiveness was rapidly increased in proportion to the dosage of medicine. The amount of serum non-esterified fatty acids were significantly decreased in the only Sample II group.
According to the above experimental results, Yangkyuksan in assumed to have a curative effect against the hypertension and arteriosclerosis.
