Abstract
In order to determine the effects of Bosimtang on the changes of physiological function: the body weight, Serum Na+, K+ contents, blood sugar, and total proteins in starved rats, the experimental animals were divided into three groups: the control group was given with water alone where as Bosimtang group was divided in two; (one was) solid extract of Bosimtang (Sample I) (the other) mixture of each solid extract of Bosimtang (Sample II) and given simultaneously water and Bosimtang extracts upon the total starvation for 5th days, from the 6th day were refeeding.
Sample I was given on the base of 131.2mg, and Sample II was given on the base of 121.3 mg per 200g of body weight by oral.
Those were consisted of seven herbdrug; Thestudinis Carapas, Ostreae Testa, Angelicae gigantic Radix, Cnidii Rhizoma, Mastodi Fossila Ossis, Glycyrrhizae Radix and Cinnamomi Ranulus.
The results were as follows:
i) Body weight was increased at the refeeding period. Sample I brought about significant changes (P < 0.05) at 15th day and Sample II was at 17th day after experiment.
2) Serum Na+, K+ Contents were increased at refeeding period Sample, I brought about significant changes (P < 0.05) at 7th days and Sample II was at 9th and 7th day after experiment.
3) Serum glucose was rapidly, recovered on increasing., Sample I brought about significant changes (P < 0.05) at 9th day and Sample II was at 11th day after experiment.
4) Total protein contents was increased at the refeeding period and Sample II brought out a significant changes (P < 0.05) at 9th days after experiment.
According to above results, especially increasing body weight and recovery of serum glucose contents: it is concluded that it can be data of presenting the methodology that which recover the weakness of Digestive system (IN. ) and the theory of mother and child Strengthening-Weaking of Mother and child ( ), The effect of the solid extract better than the mixture of each sotid extract, because when the Herbs were boiled I assumed that there were multiplication between the Herbs.
