Study on the Effects of Acupuncture, Moxibustion and Laser Acupuncture upon the Liver Damage Induced by Carbon Tetrachloride in Rat

Abstract
In order to study the effect of the acupuncture, moxibustion and laser acupuncture on the liver damage, the carbon tetrachloride was injected to the intra-peritoneum of the rat and the stimulation was applied respectively the certain number of session and duration of the locus of Sam-eum-gyo (Sp6), 1, 3, 6 and 9 days after the acupuncture, moxibustion and laser acupuncture, the blood was taken from the heart and the GOT, GPT, AlP, LAP, LDH and iron activities in the rat were measured.
The following results have been obtained:
1) With the needles inserted at the Sam-eum-gyo locus, the results of the GOT acitivities in the serum showed significant decrease effectively in 1, 3 and 9 days but 6, the GPT in 1, 6 and 9 days but 3, the AlP in 9 days, the LAP in 1 and 3 days, the LDH in 6 and 9 days, and the iron activities revealed no significant value.
2) Moxa-cauterization on the Sam-eum-gyo locus, inhibitory rate upon the GPT activities by the carbon tetrachloride were significantly higher than the control group in 1, 3 and 6 days but 9, the GOT and LAP in a day, the AlP and LDH in 9 days, and the iron in 1 and 3 days.
3) By the laser acupuncture on the Sam-eum-gyo locus, the inhibitory rate upon the GPT activities in the serum was significantly higher than the control group in all
the period, the GOT in 1, 3 and 9 days but 6, the LAP and iron in 1 and 3 days, the AlP in 3 and 9 days, and the LDH in 6 and 9 days.
According to the above results, it is concluded that the laser acupuncture, moxibustion and acupuncture in that order at the locus of the Sam-eum-gyo revealed to the better results of the GOT, GPT, AlP, LDH, LAP and iron activities in the serum, only except iron activities by the acupuncture; and it seems to be appliable to the liver diseases.
