The life and the medical theory of Jang Jong Jeong

Abstract
Jang Jong Jeong( I¢¥, iE ) came from Su-Joo Go-Seoung( IligMtOA ) and. was one of the four noted Physicians of Geum-Won( 5c ) era, who advocated, the Ju-Gong theory(M ).
After studying his life and idea of medicine, I found out the followings.
1. Jang emulated Yoo Wan So( ring ) as a model, and followed his, Yook-ki Chi Byeong Lon ( :IMAM ), but he insisted on the use of the chiaphotetic, the emetic and the paregoric to get rid of the causes.
Specially he insisted on the use of the paregoric, so they called him Gong-Ha Pa
(t-F )
2. Jang would uproot the social evils which came from the treatment having the frequent use of the drying, heating, warming and strengthening herbs of the popular book Wha-Jae-Gook-Bang in that times, and he insisted on the theory that if we would strengthen oneself, we should use food, if get rid of cause, should use the paregric, emetic and diaphoretic.
3. Jang greatly objected to following blindly the ancientstheory, worshiping a ghost and giving up ourself to our fate, and attached importance to the behavior to study hard and widely. As a result he summerized the clinical medicine of his, and of that times.
4. Jang¢¥s ang-Sim-Hwa( ,L,Jc ) theory, which he improved Yoo-Wan-So¢¥s ( gA ) Hang-Ryang( *i ) theory greatly influenced to originate Joo-Jin-Hyong¢¥s( * ) Ja-Eum-Gang-Hwa theory( Igl*AM ) and so gave a helping hand in solving the contradiction which would come from the syptoms which have the both Eum-Heo( latt ) and Hwa-Wang( ArfE ) symptoms at the sane times in oneself.
5. Jang was not only skillful at Nae-Gong( P¢¥3 * ) but was talented in Oe-Gong ( 1* ) with a large needle( ;Et ). Also he advocated the importance of the use of mental healing to the general disease, therefore, we see him a scholar unristricted to foregone conclusion.
