Studies on the Effect of Chunggantang on the Liver Damage of Rats Intoxicated by CCI4 and d-Galactosamine

Abstract
In order to study the effect of Chunggantang on the liver damage of rats intoxicated by CC14¢¥ and d-galactosamine, the serum GOT and GPT activity, serum total cholesterol, serum triglyceride and biliary secretion amounts were measured.
The results were as follows:
1. The GOT activity and total cholesterol content level in the serum of rats intoxicated by CCl4 were showed to be significantly decreased and the triglyceride content level was observed to the significant increase.
2. The GOT activity in the serum of rats intoxicated by d-galactosamine was showed to be significantly decreased, the total cholesterol and the triglyceride content level were significant increased.
3. The GOT and GPT activities and total cholesterol content level in the serum of rats intoxicated by CC14 with the passage of time in administration group of Chunggantang were showed to be remarkable significantly decreased, and the amount of triglyceride was significantly increased from 6th day.
4. Chunggantang somewhat increased biliary secretion amounts.
According to the above results, it can be concluded that Chunggantang generally had a remarkable effect on the treatment of disease by liver damage.
