Effects of Acupuncture and Administration of Salviae Radix on gastric ulcer

Abstract
In order to investigate the effects of acupuncture and of Salviae Radix extra( ¢¥t on gastric ulcer induced by Indomethacin in rats, experiment was done by acupuncture to Chung Wan (CV12) locus, administration of Salviae Radix extract and acupuncture to Chung-Wan (CV12) locus plus administration of Salviae Radix extract, to measure the anti-ulceration, the plasma level of gastrin, amylase and lipase.
Following results have been obtained:
1. The plasma gastrin level was most significantly decreased in the group treated with acupuncture to Chung-Wan (CV12) locus and administered with Salviae Radix ex-tract. The significant decrease was revealed in the group treated with acupuncture to Chung-Wan (CV12) locus and other group administered with Salviae Radix extract.
2. The plasma amylase level was most significantly decreased in the group treated with acucpuncture to Chung-Wan (CV12) locus and administered with Salviae Radix ex-tract. The significant decrease was revealed in the group treated with acupuncture to Chung-Wan (CV12) locus and other group administered with Salviae Radix extract.
3. The plasma lipase level was most significantly decreased in the group treated with acupuncture to Chung-Wan (CV12) locus and administered with Salviae Radix ex-tract. The significant decrease was revealed in the group treated with acupuncture to Chung-Wan (CV12) locus and other group administered with Salviae Radix extract.
4. The effect of anti-ulceration was most effectively revealed in the group treated with acupuncture to Chung-Wan (CV12) locus and administered with Salviae Radix ex-tract. In the group treated with acupuncture to Chung-Wan (CV12), the remarkable effectiveness was observed. The least effectiveness was observed in the group administered with Salviae Radix extract.
According to the above results, it is considered that the combination of acupuncture and medication can produce better effect on anti-ulceration.
