A Study on the Ten Heavenly Steam(十千) and the Twelve Earthly Branches(十二支), the Five elements´motion(五運) and the Six Kinds of Natural Factors(六氣)

Abstract

|
|
About the ten Heavenly Stems and the twelve Earthly Branches (1-F1--=), the mark which deduce from the five elements´ motion and the six kinds of natural factors
(K;%%) analyzed by combination the Five element´s motion with the six kinds of natural factors grasped by using of the Heavenly stems and the Earthly Branches and
coincidence of the motion and the natural factors(; , q) analyzed by combination the Five elements´ motion with the six kinds of natural factors, I have studied.
1. The Heavenly stems and the Earthly Branches(T)was established under the bases of Eum and Yang five elements´ theory (1 Ki- -&), for understanding order of natural change. It known int was originated with Dae Yo (* ) in Yellow Eemperor ( X* ).The ten Heavenly stems represent main stay the way of Heaven moves. i´he twelve Earthly Brancnes represent branch and the wa^ of Earth change. Both symbolize order of all thing´s originating, hrowing up, prospering, getting old and infirm, dying and reoriginating. At the first time the Heavenly stems had been used of recording days. The Earthly Branches recording month. Since then generally they had been used in the field of calendar.
2. The 1st(), the 3rd(Nj ), the 5th(f ), the 7th() ) and the 9th() of the ten Heavenly Stems(-f--p) assign Yang(W), the 2nd(Z,), the 4th(-]"), the 6th(E), the 8th() and the last(*) of the ten Heavenly Stems(tf) assign Eum(M). In view of Brother five elements´ separate placing( R, H´n -1 ), the 1st( E) and the 2nd(z,,) attach wood(*), the 3rd(N1) and the 4th(T) attach fire()(), the 5th (I1) and the 6th(1) attach earth(), the 7th() and the 8th(-) attach metal(), the 9th(I.-) and the last(M) attach water(4(). 3. Since Kwang Mu Emperor(* r,) in Later Han(( ), the years recorded by the mark of the Heavenly Stems and the Earthly Branches(T iin ´) took effect. Before that they had used `Years Yang(j)´ and `Years Name()´. According to the direction of the Great Bear´s handle, the Heavenly Stems and the Earthly Branches of month( ) gad been decided. After that it was combined the Heavenly Stems. And the months recorded by the mark of the Heavenly stems and the Earthly Branches( E C ) were in use. The days recroded by that mark(´ I I) have been in use without stopping since Uj king (MT) in Ju Dynasty. They applied importantly. to understanding big and small holidays(´"j ).

4. The five elements´ motion is a abstract creation tendency operated in the sky. The
six kinds of natural factors are concrete tendency operated in the Earth. So the Heavenly Stems make use for the mark which deduce from five elements´ motion ( 1. 1=etl.The Earthly Branches make use for the mark which deduce from the six kinds of natural factors( -t" ´ft). Matching five sound and the normal( 1), the
great(t) and the little(%J%), changing of five elements´ motion classify unsame difference of circulation and change of natural factors. When the motion is too much( ;), it control thing oneself restricts. And it even despise thing oneself don´t restrict(gf L). When the motion is deficient( Ts it is despised and subjugated from the this oneself do not restrict( IL). And it is slightly despised from the thing oneself do restrict.
The kinds of motion are the Great motion(i), the Master motion( A) and the Guest motion( 5-). The Great motion( ?; )j) represents synthesic changing of climate one year. The Master motion(li ) represents general changing of climate five seasons. The Guest motion(A) represents special changing of climate. What the Guest motion understand lays down it´s first motion by the Great motion of that year. According as the great generates the little(t / mt.) and five elements generate each others, the other Guest motion can culculate. According to the normal (Ts´*;), excess(:t;ii) and deficiency( change of five elements´ motion classify into fifteens sorts them. Each one is endowed with peculiar name. They called it "description of motion( E"
5. Three Eum and Yang(E) are the mark which understand six kinds of natural factors. They relate to superficies and interior(AR) each other. In accordance with the law branch and root and middle natural factor( j. ,1.,, { l ´i;.)respond at disease, the syndroms appear differently from others. The six kinds of natural factors classify the Master natural factor(), the Guest natural factor(It), the Guest natural factor which take charge of the Heaven(, r1 k-) and the Guest natural factor which is in hiding in the Earth( -T.).
The Master natural factor represents general climate change a year.
The Guest natural factor represents special climate change a year.
The Guest natural factor which take charge of the Heaven control climatic change of the first of the year. The Guest natural factor which is in hiding in the Earth control climatic change of the last of the year.
6. Complex change of six natural factors should comprehend correctly after understand the circulating Guest natural factor add to the fixed Master natural factor every year

7. We must analyze by combination five elements´ motion with six kinds of natural factors for through grasping climatic change every year. There are two cases. One is the case motion and natural factors prosper and decline each other. The other is the case motion assimilate with natural factors. Again the former classify four kinds of case.
One, the case natural factors generate motion(II(1L), two, the case natural factors restrict motion(3)IJ), three, the case motion generates natural factors(+;),four, and the case motion restrict natural factors( (I f ).
And the latter classify five kinds of case,
One, the case motion equal natural factors(n),
two, the case motion is at location of natural factors( T ),
three, too much motion(.) add to Earthly factors([; _ f r),
four, the case deficiency motion() add to Earthly factors(I-cTii- k), five, both the first and the second case(t? K t).
In the year as like the second case, if man get diseased, the disease progresses slowly and prolong. In the year as like the first case. if man get out of order, the disease progresses rapidly and the man fall into dangerous condition. In the year as like the fifth case, if one get diseased, the man suddenly die of it. In the normal years(: r=), there are three kinds of them, the year motion go too much but it is suppressed(; :
IfliMfli), the year motion are deficient but it is assisted( ). and the year of Gan Duk Bu( 0 t). In such years,,everthing under the sun flourish and man is comfortable so that disease do not happen.
The theory of five elements´ motion and six kinds of natural factors is medical doctrine of natural factorsstate which systematize a series of contents human physiology, pathology, diagnosis, prevention and medical treatment. with understanding a climatic change, by using of the Heavenly Sterns and the Earthly Branches.
