An experimental sudies of the effects of Gamijihwangtang and Gamijihwangtanggamibang on the pulmonary injury in rats and mice

Abstract
Experimental studies were done to research the clinical effects of Gamijihwangtang and Gamijihwangtanggamibang on the viscosity of mucin solution, pulmonary thromboembolism induced by sodium arachidonic acid and ADP(adenosine diphosphate) in mice, estimated the level of pO©ü, pCO©ü, pH and HCO©ýion of arterial blood, the lung TBA(thiobarbituric acid) values, oxygen consumption time, water contents of lung and histopathological findings of bronchus in O©ý intoxicated rats.
The result were obtained as follows
1. Gamijihwangtang and Gamijihwangtanggamibang revealed the decreasing effect with statistically significant(p<0.01) on the viscosity of mucin solution.
2. Both Gamijihwangtang and Gamijihwangtanggamibang had mortality control effect on the pulmonary thromboembolism induced by sodium arachidonic acid in mice. But they had not significant effect.
3. Both Gamijihwangtang and Gamijihwangtanggamibang had mortality control effect on the pulmonary thromboembolism induced by ADP(adenosine diphosphate) in mice. But they had not significant effect.
4. Both Gamijihwangtang and Gamijihwangtanggamibang revealed the decrease control effect with statistically significant(p<0.05) on the blood pO©ý level in O©ýintoxicated rats.
5. Gamijihwangtanggamibang revealed the increase control effect with statistically significant(p<0.01) on the blood pCO©ülevel in O©ýintoxicated rats. But Gamijihwangtang had not a significant effect.
6. Both Gamijihwangtang and Gamijihwangtanggamibang revealed the decrease control effect with statistically significant(p<0.01) on the blood pH level in O©ýintoxicated rats.
7. Gamijihwangtanggamibang revealed the decrease control effect with statistically significant(p<0.01) on the blood HCO©ýion level in O©ýintoxicated rats. But Gamijihwangtang had not a significant effect.
8. Both Gamijihwangtang and Gamijihwangtanggamibang revealed the decreasing effect with statistically significant(p<0.01, p<0.001) on the lung TBA values in O©ýintoxicated rats.
9. Gamijihwangtanggamibang revealed the decrease control effect with statistically significant(p<0.05) on the oxygen consumption time in O©ý intoxicated rats. But Gamijihwangtang had not a significant effect.
10. Both Gamijihwangtang and Gamijihwangtanggamibang revealed the decreasing effect with statistically significant(p<0.01) on the water contents of right & left lung values in O©ýintoxicated rats. But Gamijihwangtanggamibang had not a significant effect on left lung.
11. Both Gamijihwangtang and Gamijihwangtanggamibang revealed the improved effect on edema, congestion and inflammatory infiltrates of bronchus in O©ý intoxicated rats.
According to the above findings, it is suggested that the solid extract of Gamijihwangtang and Gamijihwangtanggamibang revealed effects on chronic respiratory disease.
