Three Dimensional Finite Element Analysis of the Stress According to the Different Design of Implant Fixtures

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to compare and analyze the distribution of stress generated in and around the cylindrical implant fixtures with different shapes of flute.
Four kinds of implant models designed for this study were as follows :
Design I : Triple non-end fluted fixture
Design II : Triple and fluted fixture
Design III : Triple non-end fluted : 90 degree modified fluted fixture
Design IV : Non fluted fixture
Three dimensional finite element analysis was used for this study.
@ES The following results were obtained :
@EN 1 In the interface A and B, all the tested implants showed maximum stress value at the cervical portion of implant.
2. According to the shape of implant fixture, the difference of stress was great in the interface A, but little in the interface B.
3. According to the shape of flute, there were some differences I amount of stress concentration.
4. As a result of comparative analysis of stress distribution in the interface A, similar distributions were appeared in design I and design II, but a lower stress value was estimated in design I than design II, and stress value in design III
and
IV
were greater than design I and II.
5. Relatively small stress was distributed around the apical portion of the interface B, It was considered as the typical pattern of stress distribution in cylindrical implant.
