A STUDY OF ELECTROMYOGRAPHIC CHARACTERISTECS OF KOREAN ADULTS WITH NORMAL OCCLUSION

Abstract
|
|
|
The purpose of this study was to find out the muscle activity characteristics in normal subjects. Electromyographic recordings were made during resting and clenching periods in 28 adult male subjects, and following conclusions were reached.
1. No difference in all resting , clenching EMG was noted between male and female groups.
2. When left and right groups were compared ,resting activity in Tempera]is Anterior, Masseter, Posterior were higher in right groups and Anterior belly of digastric muscle was higher in left difference in muscle activity was noted during clenching period.
3. When anterior and posterior temporalis muscles were compared, posterior showed more activity during resting period and anterior showed more activity during clenching period.
4. When minimum and maximin groups were compared, no significant difference were observed resting activities but significant difference were observed in clenching activity, indicating that maximum group have wider range of activity.
