Effect of liver injury and liver tissue transplantation on water and electrolytes distribution of liver and other tissues.

Abstract
Eighty. rabbits were divided into 4 groups as follows
Group 1 Control (sham operation be done)
Group 2 Resected at 1/3 protion of left liver lobe;
Group 3 Part of liver resected at 1/3 protion of left liver lobe is autotransplsnted in right inguinal region.
Group 4 Ligated at 1/3 protion of left liver lobe.
All of the rabbits were sacrificed at 48 hours after operation by means of cardiac puncture.
The blood sample thus obtained was stored in refrigerator for serum electrolytes determination.
Immediately after killing the animals, liver, - kidney, spleen, brain, intestine, skeletal muscle, lung and heart were taken out for the determination of water and electrolytes.
Sodium and potassium in - serum and tissue were determined by means of Beard flame photometer using lithium nitrate as internal standard. Serum chloride was analyzed by the method of Schales and Schales, while tissue chloride was titrated after van Slyke method.
