Study on the blood components of lepers

Abstract
|
|
|
This investigation was performed to be of help in evaluating prognosis and treatment of Hansen´s disease in Korea. 100 cases of leprosy patients were studied and these were categorized into 2 groups ie. lepromatous and tuberculous. In both group, determination of Hb. ESR, and total protein value, Albumin, Globulin, Ca, Carotene, Vt. A,
Alkaline phosphatase, GOT and GPT in serum was done.
The results obtaind are summarized as follow;
1. Urine sugar was negative in all patients and urine protein positive in all patients and urine protein positive more than a half qualitatively.
2. Hb. was ranged 11.9 ± 1.3 gm% to 14.1 ± 1.25 gm%.
3. E.S.R., Serum Ca, SGOT. and SGPT. were in normal range in all cases.
4. Albumin value was decreased and Globulin, on the contrary, increased than normal. -
A/G ratio was reversed.
5. Vit A was ranged 32.4 -h 7.2 pg/dl to 36.2 ± 6.0 pg/dl
