Effect of Yungmijiwhang-tang on the Hematological Component of High Atmosphere Pressure-Exposed Rats

Abstract
All the animals including human beings are living by ,,r;.limation to our environment such as high and loin temperature, high pressure, emotional shock, etc. Especl;111y. high atmosphere evoke many problems to man.
In example, The deep sea is a fascinating part of our environment. However, no man can go down to the indefinite depth with safety because there are many problems in excursion to the deep sea. Although the occurrence of compression or decompression sickness in SCUBA(self contained underwater breathing apparatus) diver¢¥s who diving sugsequent to compressed air diving has to data not been a serious problem in SCUBA diver¢¥s, the increasing popularity of the sport of underwater swimming suggests thath this condition may become more important in civil divers.
The heratological effects of hyperbaric ambient air administered Yungmijiwhang -tang were studied in 90 male. Sprague-Dawely rat of 250-260g body weight administered Yungmijiwhang -tang which exposed to the hyprbaric ambient air (2ATA and 3ATA) for 120 minute per day during 2, 4 weeks.
The hematological parameters and gas analysis in the blood of rats were examined:
1) The average values of hemogolbin(Hb), red blood cell(RBC), hematocreat(Hct) in the hematological parameters of rats exposed at 2AT A during 4 weeks (Sample C) were increased than those of control group.
But those of 3ATA during 4weeks (Sample C) were decreased than those of control group. Probably;-inhibiting effect of Yungmijiwhang-tang.
2) The levels of platelet were significantly decreased; especially Sample A due to hypoventilation and-:the effect of Yungrnijiwhang -tang
3) The level of pH was increased at 2ATA during 4 weeks (Sample C) because of inhibiting effect of Yungmijiwhang -tang on kidney excretion of sodium I)icarbonate(HCO3-), so consequently, the level of partial Pressure of HCO3- in the blood was slightly increased in Sample B and Sample C.
4) The level of partial pressure Carbon-dioxide(Pco2) was decreased due to respiratory alkalosis. But Sam* A, Sample B group were not significantly changed because of inhibiting effect on respiratory alkalosis of~ Yungmi jiwhang-tang.
5) Comparative observation of levels of Pot and 02 SAT between control group; not supplym,
Yungmiljiwhang-tang and Sample A ; supplying Yungmijiwhang-tang, The levels of Po2 and 02 SAT W ere decreased in control group due to hypoventilation. but those of Sample A were significantly increased, probably due to Yungmiji whang-tang.
This means that the probability of relating study between HBO in Caisson¢¥s disease and the effect of ¢¥ Yungmi:jiwhang-tang.
