A Study on the Biological False Positive Reaction of Venereal Disease Research Laboratory Method in Pregnancy

Abstract
|
|
|
The method of VDRL (Venereal Disease Research Laboratory), used as one of the diagnostic tests syphilis, can produce biological false positive reactions caused by many other systemic disease. But so far as we know there has been no report about the biological false positive reaction by pregnancy. And so in other to make it out, We took 912 pregnant women for the experim-nt research on the biological false positive reaction in VDRL test of pregnancy.
1) There is no particular relationship between VDRL test biological false positive reaction and being pregnant.
2) Biological false positive reaction seemed to become higher in proportion to the experiences of pregnancy, delivery or abortion.
3) Biological false positive seemed to be highest in the women of 2630 years of age and this is in accordance with the findings of previous researches.
4) The positive rate of VDRL in some pregnant women was 2.31% and the infections rate of syphilis in them was 1.32%, and the positive rate of VDRL in the women of control group was 1.81 % and the infections rate of syphilis in them was 1.15 %.
