Hematologic Manifestation in HIV Infected Persons

Abstract
AIDS cases and HIV prevalence are increased rapidly in the world and in Korea. This study is to get the state of health among HIV infected persons, who were found in Korea, the prognostic factor for AIDS and effect of therapy. 98 HIV infected person, assumed HIV infection time, were choosed among 521 HIV infected persons found in Korea for the period of eleven years from 1985. 98 HIV infected persons were tested per 6 month to investigate their hematologic and immunologic status and change. As a result, RBC number, Hemoglobin and Hematocrit decreased but ESR continued to increase more than 1.5mm/h per two years. ESR increased obviously after 6 years and Platelet, WBC, lymphocyte decreased with time. Leukocyte differential counts and lymphocytes decreased with time. But segmented neutrophil increased and monocyte & Eosinophil decreased with time. Basophil and band form changed very little.
