The Prevention of Alloxan-induced Diabetes in Mouse and Rabbit by Rehmannial Rhizoma Water Extract

Abstract
|
|
|
Alloxani monohydrate administered intravenously to mice and rabbits in doses of 50 or 100mg/kg caused to be selectively taken up by the insulin-producing β-cell of the paocieas and elevation of the blood glucese levels
Water extract of Rehmannize Rbizoma(RGLW) administered intraperitoneally or per oral 30 minute prior to alloxan prevented these diabetogenic actions
RGLW, a widly used crud drug, was chosen because it decrease blood glcose
The data of the present study indicate that RGLK can protect. against the qiabetogenic action of alloxan.
