Abstract
The author analyzed 215 cases of acute pancreatitis which were ocnfirmed by the clinical and laboratory findings among the patients admittedto Maryknoll Hospital from Jan. 1975 to May 1979.
The results obtained were as follows:
1. CBC and urinalysis were shown as leukocytosis (67.9%) increased ESR(57.7%), proteinuria(31.6%), glycosuria(26.6%), and bilirubinuria(20.3%).
2. Serum amylase level checked with Somogyi¢¥s Saccharogenic method was increased over 800 U in 164 cases(83.7%).
3. The blood chemistry was hypercholesterolemia (7.0%), hyperglycemia (40.9%), hyperbilirubinemia(25.6%), elevated value of alkaline phosphatase (27.7%), SGOT(22.8%), hypocalcemia (27.0%), and elevation of serumlipase (75.3%)
4. Amylase-creatinine clearance ratio was checked on the 3rd to 9th day of oneset and 50 cases among 52 patients had a ratio above 3.9 percent. Elevated ratio above 6 0 percent was noticed in 31 cased (59.7%). The amylase-creatinine clearance ratio is thought to be an accurate diagnostic method for this disease.
5. The x-ray films of chest and simple abdomen were shown as gastrocolic separation in 42 cases(35.0%), colon cut-off sign in 33 cases (27.5%), sentinel loop in 25 cases(20.8 %), C-loop widening etc in 5 cases(4.I%), elevated diaphragm etc in 13 cases(l0.8%), and generalized paralytic ileus in 29 cases (24.1%), among 120 cases alone or in combination.
