A statistical study on 239 cases of peptic ulcer


Abstract
Statistical observation were reviewed on 239 cases of peptic ulcer treated to the medical ward of Chosun University Hospital from Jan. 1977 to Dec. 1978.
The results were obtained as follow :
1. There cases consisted of 108 cases of duodenal ulcer, 90 cases of gastric ulcer and 41 cases of combined gastric and duodenal ulcer.
The ratio of gastric to duodenal ulcer was 1, 12
2. Sex ratio was 1.7:1 male to female in duodenal ulcer and gastric ulcer.
3. The peak age incidence was in the 4th decade in duodenal-ulcer and combind gastric and duodenal ulcer, and 5th decade in gastric ulcer.
4. Seasonal incidence was developed high in the autumn in duodenal ulcer, in the summer in gastric and combined gastric and duodenal ulcer.
5. The main symptoms of peptic ulcer was epigastric pain(72.2% in duodenal ulcer and 85.6% in gastric ulcer), indigestion(25.9% in duodenal ulcer, 24.4% in gastric ulcer).
6. The duration of hospitalization was the most common in the one of five days(25.1% in duodenal ulcer and 17.6% in gastric ulcer.)
