Abstract
Servm proteins were studied in acute glomerulonephritis (35 cases) and nephrotic syndrome (4cases) who were admitted to the Pediatric Ward, Chosun University Hospital during period January, 1981 to December, 1981.
The results obtained are follows.
1. Acute Glomerulonephritis: Total serum protein and serum albumin were slightly decreased, however alpha 2-globulin and gammaglobulin were slightly elevated.
2. Nrphrotic syndrome. Total serum protein and serum albumin were markedly decreased, however alpha 2-globulin was markedly elevated. And gammaglobulin was markedly decreased.
3. In conclusion it was suggested that hypergammaglobulinemia observed in acute glomerulonephritis was due to immune reaction in the host, and hypogammaglobulinemia observed in nephrotic syndrome was due to selective urinary loss of lower molecular mass protein in serum.
