A Study on Subjective Symptoms of Workers Fatigue in the Work Places

Abstract
This study is an attempt to investigate questionaires on physical, mental and neuro-sensory subjective fatigue symptoms, which were answered by 1,339 workers(male : 758, female : 581) in industries located in Choellanamdo Province between March 1, 1981 and April 30, 1981. All data from this study was classified and collected according to length of work in industry, age, sex and type.
The results obtained from this data were as follows ;
1. Subjective fatigue symptoms for most of the total workers were type ¥± deminant.
2. Subjective fatigue symptoms increased in male workers more than in female workers both before and after work.
3. The rate for the male workers by occupation were most increased in miners and quaryman for before work(physical : 24.0%, mental : 14.5%, neuro-sensory : 16.7%) and after work(physical : 56.7%, mental : 43.2%, neuro-sensory : 42.7%), and second-most increased in chemical processors, food processors, weavers and spinners, electrial fitters and releated workers. These symptoms were lowest in clerks in both before work(physical : 10.0%, mental : 13.0%, neuro-sensory : 7.0 %) and after work(physical : 25.5%, mental : 16.8%, neuro-sensory : 15.6%)
4. The rate of subjective fatigue symptoms in female workers was highest in weavers and spinners both before work(physical : 19.8%, mental : 16.8%, neuro-sensory : 15.6%), and after work(physical : 42.8%, mental : 34.9%, neuro-sensory : 29.5%). Food processor and clerks were next to the weavers and spinners and dry and handcraft manufacturers were the lowest in both before work(physical : 16.0%, mental : 2.2%, neuro-sensory : 5.0%) and after work (physical : 28.5%, mental : 16.9%, neuro-sensory : 10.2%).
5. According to years of continuous service, the rates of subjective fatigue symptoms for male workers before work were not specific in physical and mental fatigue symptoms only. But the rates of subjective fatigue symptoms increased in proportion to length of service.
6. According to age of workers, the rates of subjective fatigue symptoms before work and after work in both male and female workers increased on the basis of worker¢¥s age.
7. No relationship between blood type and subjective fatigue symptoms was observed.
