Biochemical & Morphological Studies on Paraguat Intoxication in the Rabbit

Abstract
|
|
|
A study was performed for detection of paraquat toxicity in rabbit which ingested 24.5% paraquat solution 120㎎/㎏ by gavage feeding.
The results were as follows.
1. At autopsy finding, the majority of lung showed occasional small infiltrates of lymphocyte and plasma cell, accompanied by focal and minimal alveolar lining cell hyperplasis and collections of alveolar macrophages. But there were hemorrhage and edema, pulmonary fibrosis in a few cases. In liver, the midzonal and periportal fatty change were revealed at 3rd day.
2. Arterial blood gas analysis were revealed hypoxia and hypocapnea at early stage, but hypoxia and respiratory acidosis at late stage. The liver functionsua test were slightly increased at 5th day after pretreating with paraquat solution.
