Objective : This study aimed at the development of a Korean version of the Reintegration to Normal Living Index (K-RNLI) for social participation and to examine its validity and reliability.
Methods : RNLI was cross-culturally adapted into the Korean language by adapting a forward/backward translation by an expert panel review to verify the content validity. The face validity was determined to evaluate the understanding of the questions. In addition, the K-RNLI was compared to the Frenchay Activities Index (FAI) and the Satisfaction with Life Scale (SWLS) for criterion-related validity. In addition, the internal consistency and test-retest reliability of the content were measured.
Results : K-RNLI verified the translation content validity and face validity. The value of the Content Validity Index(CVI) showed a very high value of .85. and .98. The criterion-related validity showed a positive correlation with K-RNLI using a FAI (¥ã=.74) and SWLS (¥ã=.54). In addition, the value of internal consistency of Cronbach¡¯s ¥á was .99, indicating a high correlation. The test-retest reliability was very high and statistically significant (¥ã=.99)(p<.01).
Conclusion : In the results used as a tool for evaluating the social participation of stroke patients, K-RNLI showed validity and verified reliability, and illustrated the applicability of K-RNLI in a Korean clinical setting. We suggest that this type of social participation may be effectively utilized as a valid instrument.
