A Study on Mental Health Status of the Pulmonary Tuberculosis patients

Abstract
|
|
|
This study was intended to investigate mental health status of the pulmonary tuberculosis patients.
The purpose was to provide useful information for planning effective nursing care in tuberculosis patients.
The subjects in this study were 86 admitted and out patients of the K hospital in Kwang Ju.
The data was collected between July 11 to 18, 1986.
The measurement tool was the SCL-90-R.
Data of subjects was analized of mental health condition according to the variables(Duration of the disease, Severity of the disease).
Analysis of the data was done by use of percentage, ANOVA, t-test, pearson´s collelation coefficient.
The results of study were as follows:
1. According to duration of the disease, significant differences were seen 4 scales as Somatization, Depression, Anxiety, paranoid ideation.(p〈.005, p〈.05)
2. There was significant differences between three disease of severity groups. (p〈.001, p〈.05) Significant differences were seen 4 scales as Somatization, Obessive-compulsive, Anxiety.
3. Significant correlations were found between duration of the disease, severity of the disease and mental health scales.(p〈.001, p〈.05)
