A research on the actual condition of the workers´ dantal health who are working for the industrial estate in Kwangju city

Abstract
|
|
|
This research was undertaken to evaluate the actual condition of the dental health of 276 workers working for Bohas Brewery Co., Ltd., Samyang Silk Industry Co., Ltd., Dae-A Industry Co., Ltd., and Oriental Brewery Co. Ltd., located in Kwangju city from November 1992 to December 1992.
6 items of oral test and dental examination were executed in order to get D.T index, MT index, FT index, DI-S, CI-S and OHI-S in compliance with WHO criteria.
The results obtained were as follows.
1. The mean value of DT index was 2.32
The mean value of MT index was 1.59
The mean valud of FT indew was 1.60
The mean valud of DMFT index of the all workers was 5.42
2. DMFT index of workers in Kwangju industrial estate was higher than the average value of Korean male adult and DI-S was increased by age.
3. 46.54 percent of workers expressed ´abnormal´ about their oral health and 34.69% of workers received dental treatment.
4. Going out and leaving work early marked 43.35% in order to take dental care and 29.15% endured the dental pain without any treatment.
5. Major restriction to dental treatment was short of time and it marked 60.57%.
6. 95.41% of the oral tested workers received no oral examination during routine medical service enforced by their company.
7. Improvement of working conditions and regular medical service should be required for the workers in Kwangju industrial estate and low priced and qualified dental service is needed for them.
