A study on defects of RPD metal framework with direct and indirect spruing
ÀÓµ¿Ãµ/Lim DC
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to determine defects of maxillary RPD(removable partial denture) with a variety of spruing arrangements and two directions of liquid metal feeding.
A factorial experimental design, three spruing methods, two metal feeding directions, and two different weights of metal were used to cast 60 Kennedy class ¥± modification 1 RPDs.
The results were as follows :
1. The RPD component examined had a significant influence of the occurrence of casting defects(P<0.001).
2. The interaction between weights of metal and spruing arrangements had a significant effect on the occurrence of casting defects(P<0.05).
3. Minimal metal weight could be used successfully to produce sound., RPD frameworks.
