Unanticipated Difficult Intubation and LMA on Lingual Thyroglossal Duct Cyst in Child -A case report-

Abstract

|
An 18 month old female weighing 10㎏ with the diagnosis of imperforated anus and rectovaginal fistula was scheduled for surgical correction. The infant received 15㎎ ketamine before induction of anesthesia. 0.2㎎ atropine, 50㎎ pentothal sodium, and 2㎎ vecuronium was administered. Vocal cords and surrounding structures were not identified under laryngoscope. Intubation using direct laryngoscopy proved unsuccessful after many attempts with various blades and changes in position. Subsequently, a size-2 LMA was inserted easily into the oropharynx, and lungs were ventilated. A week later, this patient was confirmed to have LTGDC in the ENT Department.
