Abstract
Background: There are sometimes invasive blood pressure waveform changes in a same patient. Before we start to investigate the reason of change, we want to confirm the accuracy of damping coefficient (DC) and natural frequency (NF) measurement by the traditional fast flush test using Analog/Digital (A/D) converter and signal analysis.

Methods: We inserted a routine arterial catheter in right radial artery. We used the Edwards pressure transducer kit and Cardiocap ¥± (Datex) monitor. Connecting A/D converter to analog output of the monitor, we received all the data into a software made by Labview. The data were anlayzed with Matlab program. The sampling rate of the software were 1000 Hz. We calculated the NF and DC from the digitalized data.

Results: The NFs and DCs of the digitalized data were not the same.

Conclusions: We conclude that the NFs and DCs from FFT were different in this pilot study. It is needed to research why this discrepancy occurred.
