High-Performance Liquid Chromatography Determination of Anticonvulsants in Plasma

Abstract
|

|
The author tried to investigate 22 Epileptics, who have maintained Diphenylhydantoin -DPH), Phenobarbital(PBT), or Carbamazepine (CBZ) in out patient department of Seoul National Mental Hospital, to confirm the serum levels of anticonvulsant: in relation to daily dose and therapeutic effects.
The following results were obtained.
I. The mean serum levels of the patients with DPH were 4.973::09 ug/ml,?.11.15+3.81 ug/ml in patients with PBT, 4.41+1.21 ug/ ml in patients with CBZ.
2. Serum levels of the patients, controlled completely with anticonvalsants were ranged widely. So the serum levels could not be regard as an absolute indicator of clinical
efficacy.
