CT scan finding of cerebral atrophy in schizophrenics

Abstract

|
Cerebral atrophic changes on computerized tomography (CT) scan of 33 schizophrenics and 36 age-matched controls were review-ed. Sizes of variable portions of ventricular systems and cortir cal sulci were measured by curve digitizer.
The results are followed..
1, Mean VBR of the ,schizophrenics is significancly larger (p 0.001) than that of controls
2. Sum- of 4-sulci of schizophrenics cortex is 10.30 mm 03D-2.05) and that of controls is 8,66 mm (SD 2,09), ----p 0.004
3. There is no significant relationship between VBR and duration of illness in schizophrenics and controls.
