A Study on the Straining Property of Conventional Composite Resins

Abstract
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the staining property of dental composite resins in various solutions.
Four kinds of conventional dental composite resins were` used in this study. Specimens (diameter 20mm, thickness 1.3mm) were immersed in 2% . coffee¢¥ solution, cola, distilled water, orange juice, soy sauce solution and tea solution for 1, 2, 3 and 4 weeks. The value of Hunter¢¥s color difference (AE) was measured by Spectrophotometer (MS-2000, Macbeth, U.S.A.) with integrating sphere.
Obtained results were as follows:
1.Staining of conventional composite resins was higher in coffee, tea and soy sauce solution.
2. Conventional composite resins were stained much after one week and thereafter the degree of staining was not much increased as in the first week.
