Abstract
We reviewed the importances of countertransference in a therapist as a director to apply effectively psychodrama for patient. We summarized the relations between psychodrama and psychoanalysis, concepts of countertransference. And then referring to a Paul Homes's The inner world outside and a case which is experienced psychodrama by one of authors, we discussed the natures and the therapeutics used of countertransference. Director's emotional reactions, countertransference subdivided into four categories. 1) neurotic emotional reaction from the unconscious of the therapist by unresolved conflicts. 2) therapist's responsive emotional reaction to the patient's transference. 3) relevant emotional reaction to the here-and-now situations. 4) therapist's emotional reaction which is not related with the therapeutic process. And then the methods of therapeutic use of countertransference were as follows. 1) interpretation of protagonist's transference. 2) stimulating of real 'encounter' between therapist and patient, that is, director and protagonist. 3) asking him to do any therapeutic work.
