Intracranial dural Arteriovenous Malformations

Abstract
1. Clinical Symptoms other than Hemorrhage and Focal Neurological Deficits
1) Rarely warrant radical treatment of a DAVM, unless the lesion is particularly
accessible or is associated with featuress predisposing to subsequent aggressive clinical
behavior.
2) Patient reassurance, symptomatic treatment, or lesion palliation are frequently
sufficient.
2. In the Cases of Aggressive Clinical Course
A more definitive treatment strategy should be adopted.
3. Diagnostic Investigation Should be Thorough so as
To identify DAVMS with features predisposing to aggressive clinical behavior.
4. Treatment stratgies - Symptomatic Treatment, Lesion Palliation, Transartervention,
and Radiosurgery
5. Multidisciplinary teams
For the future, the treatment of DAVMS should preferably be entrusted to
multidisciplinary teams with expertise in the recognition and management of these
lesions, and with experience in a variety of treatment options and approaches.
